**Stroke Teaching Day: Learn and Reduce Risks**

**Comprehensive Stroke Teaching Day Scheduled for October 30, 2024**

The Mohawk Valley Health System will host a Comprehensive Stroke Teaching Day on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. The event will take place at Hart's Hill Inn, located at 135 Clinton Street in Whitesboro.

This year’s event is inspired by the World Stroke Organization's campaign for World Stroke Day 2024, which emphasizes the power of the brain’s connections and the importance of reducing stroke risks through collective action. The theme encourages participants to become #GreaterThan stroke by taking proactive measures every day.

The educational program is designed for clinical staff employed by Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) and personnel from Emergency Medical Services. The Wynn Hospital, which houses the Comprehensive Stroke Center, is recognized as the only designated Comprehensive Stroke Center between Syracuse and Albany.

MVHS employees can reserve their spots via NetLearning, while staff from outside agencies can contact Melissa Kelly at 315-917-8250 or via email at mkelly@mvalthealthsystem.org to make their reservations. All reservations must be completed by Monday, October 14, 2024, as no admission will be available at the door.

Attendance is free and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, with breakfast and lunch provided for participants.

Among the speakers at the event will be Dr. Scott Brehaut, a specialist in Neurocritical Care, Family Medicine, and Geriatrics.
