On the morning of September 11, 2024, a memorial ceremony was held at the City’s 9/11 Memorial in Utica, New York. Mayor Galime and Chief Ingersoll conducted a wreath-laying ceremony to honor first responders and victims of the September 11 attacks.

The monument at the memorial includes the inscription: "SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 DEDICATED TO... PORT AUTHORITY POLICE OFFICERS... WHO MADE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE... TO RESCUE... WORLD TRADE CENTER VICTIMS."

Community members gathered to pay tribute to those who responded on that day, and an acknowledgment was made for the families and friends of the victims. The day is recognized as Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance, marking the 23rd anniversary of the attacks.

The ceremony concluded with a pledge: “WE SHALL NEVER FORGET.”
