In November 1989, the San Diego Convention Center opened its doors, marking a significant transformation in downtown San Diego. Designed with a nautical theme, the convention center offers dramatic views of the surrounding city and bay. Over the past 35 years, it has gained recognition as a premier location for meetings, trade shows, and various events.

As part of its 35th anniversary celebrations, the Convention Center is highlighting key moments from its history and acknowledging the contributions of individuals who have helped shape its success. This initiative includes reflecting on the iconic events that have taken place within its walls since its inception.
