Tail Light Stop Reveals Cocaine, Arrest Warrant
On January 18, 2026, at approximately 3:33 a.m., officers from the Auburn City Police Department stopped a vehicle on N. Fulton Street and E. Genesee Street in Auburn, New York, for a tail light violation. During the stop, officers identified the front-seat passenger as Amber E. Klein and discovered that she had an active arrest warrant issued by the New York State Police in North Syracuse.
Klein was taken into custody, and a search of her person revealed a plastic bag containing a white powdery substance concealed in her waistband. At the police headquarters, the substance was tested and identified as cocaine hydrochloride (powder cocaine) with a total weight of 4.1 grams.
Klein was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th Degree, a Class C felony. Following processing for arraignment, she was released on her own recognizance. However, due to the outstanding warrant from the New York State Police, she was later taken into NYSP custody.
