Hammer Assault Suspect Arrested in Cayuga County

On December 21, 2025, at approximately 10:54 AM, deputies responded to a residence in the Town of Ira following a report of a domestic violence incident that resulted in injury. Upon arrival, deputies encountered a male victim who had suffered a laceration to the back of his head. Emergency medical services treated the victim and transported him to a local hospital.

During the investigation, it was determined that a physical altercation had taken place. The suspect, Marissa P. Clinch, age 34, of Vernan Corners, NY, was identified as having struck the victim in the back of his head with a hammer while he was on the ground. The hammer was also used to damage the victim's motorcycle. Clinch fled the scene before deputies arrived but was located later in Oneida County by New York State Police.

At approximately 3:30 PM the same day, deputies arrested Clinch and charged her with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, and Criminal Mischief 4th Degree. She was processed at the Precinct Substation and turned over to the Cayuga County Jail for CAP arraignment. Clinch subsequently returned to the Town of Ira Court on December 24, 2025, at noon.
