Arctic Front Brings Snow Squalls, Winter Storm Warning

Lackawanna County, Scranton, PA – An Arctic front is set to pass through tonight, bringing the potential for snow squalls and gusty winds. Temperatures are expected to drop through the night, remaining cold into New Year’s Day.

Snow squalls could occur between 7 PM this evening and 4 AM Thursday morning, with the possibility of 1 to 2 inches of snow in a short period. Drivers should expect reduced visibility and icy or snow-covered roads. Additional lake effect snow is projected to develop north of I-90 from Thursday through Saturday, spreading across a broader area due to shifting positions.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for northern Oneida County through 7 AM Thursday. The Lackawanna County Emergency Management Agency advises residents to monitor the weather forecast for updates via the National Weather Service at weather.gov/bgm and weather.gov/bgm/winter.
