Staff Report / Uticalocal.org

The City of Utica and Upstate Caring Partners will host an art exhibition called "Pieces of heART" at Utica City Hall on August 23, 2024, from 11:00am to 2:00pm. The exhibit will showcase 12 paintings and pottery pieces created by 15 artists from the community. These pieces are part of the pieces of heART program that promotes inclusivity and artistic expression among individuals of all abilities.

Geno DeCondo, the Executive Director of Upstate Caring Partners, expressed pride in the collaboration and emphasized that the exhibition goes beyond showcasing art; it honors the artists' achievements, resilience, and creativity.

Mayor Galime commended the partnership with Upstate Caring Partners, highlighting the event's focus on community inclusion and supporting individuals with disabilities in achieving their goals. Refreshments for the exhibition will be provided by Chef’s Express, a local bakery helping individuals with disabilities through social enterprise.

The artists in the exhibit work in various mediums such as painting, pottery, music, photography, and print-making, each employing unique styles and techniques to create their art. Visitors can explore the diverse artworks at Utica City Hall during the event. For more information, visit upstatecpart.org or @piecesofheartny.
